We’re eyeing August 28th on Juneteenth
NGAAP is encouraging Charlotte’s Black founders and leaders of nonprofits to register for participation in CLT Gives Black, our community-wide day of giving that culminates Black Philanthropy Month every year on August 28th. You can apply for registration via the give828.org platform starting today!
Here’s a link to last year’s CLT Gives Black page that ultimately led to a total of $34K raised across 37 nonprofits on August 28, 2024. NGAAP believes the Charlotte community has capacity to increase these numbers, dramatically, in 2025.
Your participation as a nonprofit or a donor is about more than raising awareness and dollars for a single organization, it’s about acknowledging and elevating the collective presence, impact and significance of Black-led and Black-benefiting nonprofits that serve on the frontlines of communities, everywhere.
A part of the national #Give828 campaign, our local CLT Gives Black builds on the momentum created by Black Philanthropy Month with one dedicated day of giving. The campaign leverages online fundraising tools and strategies to empower individuals of all backgrounds to extend their connections and make financial investments that help strengthen Black communities.
Young Black Giving Back Institute (YBGB) introduced “the Blackest Day of Giving” eight years ago. August 28 was chosen due to the day’s significance in history, as was Juneteenth designated for opening registration.
